In our previous video, we talked a bit about the two principals of really successful projects, the first being a transparency and we talked a lot about the reports and dashboards and so forth that we can generate from cloud-based tools really quickly and in real time. This video here is about accountability. That’s the second aspect of why cloud-based tools really can be quite successful. In the past, accountability was more focused on either biweekly or monthly, having project team meetings to bring everyone in to ask how things are going, where we are in terms of status and so forth. Um, and for the individuals to report out there their project status that can take a lot of time and really not really hold the team as accountable as, as you may want. Cloud-based tools, they really can do a great job of holding individuals accountable. They know, by accountability we mean they know what they’re there they’re supposed to accomplish, they know what’s what’s responded, they’re responsible for. And it’s clear to everyone, they’re accountable to everyone about how, what progress have they made. So as you can see here, this is the project plan. Every, every task is identified. Typically at a high level, you can see who it’s assigned to. That’s the accountability piece. And then we also can see what percent complete, um, are, are they getting the work done? What drives this is, you can see the accountability piece. What I like about this tool is the time sheet drives their percent complete. So, uh, and it’s based on the actual project itself. So you can see the tasks that I had here. If I were to select one of the tasks that’s coming from my project plan, I can then report my time and then also report what percent complete is that task done. So I can actually show that I’ve been putting time towards it and I can actually also report that percent complete. And that’s what ultimately fills in the information for my project time sheet here. So it’s all data flowing into my project plan as opposed to waiting every two weeks or every month to get that information out there. The thing I like about the accountability, it also if you have an individual that has multiple projects that they’re accountable for, you can see all of the various projects, what to do, what percent’s complete, and so they have all that information at their fingertips so they can manage multiple projects at multiple times and they can plan their day out more, more accurately. There’s other tools that enable teams to be more accountable. There’s discussion features, there’s issues, risks and changes register that always assigns risk issues and changes to individuals and hold them accountable for getting those, those tasks completed. All of these things are really great tools, help enable project sponsors, a steering committees, DRB’s, um, and project managers to hold everyone accountable. All right, so thanks for joining us for our two-part series on how to use IT project management tools in the cloud. Look for more videos from us and thanks for your time.
