About this Quick-Start Workshop

The focus of the IT Project Schedule Quick-Start workshop is to create an IT Project Schedule that can be used in conjunction with scheduling software such as Microsoft Project, Primavera or other applications (this document is also called a project plan).  The project schedule acts as a baseline plan for the project by providing the basis used to regularly assess the time performance of the project. The Project Schedule includes a complete list of the activities required to complete the project, as well as the milestones, dependencies, resources and timeframes involved in undertaking the project.

Workshop Outcomes

• Identify all phases, activities and tasks involved in undertaking the project, along with key project milestones
• Create a comprehensive Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
• Identify critical path of activities (CPA)
• Quantify the human resources required to carry out each activity listed
• Create a detailed project schedule by listing the phases, activities and tasks required to complete the project, as well as the dependencies, sequencing and resources involved
• List any planning assumptions and constraints
